Lumix S 35mm f1.8 Lens Review

The Lumix S 35mm f1.8 lens is finally here in my hands after doing a bit of research on it. I really have been trying to get this look for about 1 year and a half now. I originally had a 20mm lens on my black magic pocket camera, but it wasn't quite at the 35mm look. It was at about a 38mm equivalent after you factor in the Micro 4/3 crop.

My honest opinion is that I have mixed reviews. I think I can clearly say that photography wise it's ok. I have taken some decent pictures on it for my self and also for my friend Genesis who you see in this images. But when I compare them to the pics I get form the 50mm 1.8 lens there's no competition. The 50 mm blows the 35mm out of the water.
You definitely get way more boca while shooting with the 50mm than you get with the 35mm. It almost feels like I might as well just shoot pictures with my 20mm-60mm kits lens that comes with the camera.

When it comes to shooting videos it finally starts to shine. I can definitely work with the video quality out of this lens. I think it's great for shooting music videos, films, and any other creative pre-scripted content. I look forward to digging deep into my creative bag and seeing what I can create.

If you're looking into getting the Lumix S 35mm f1.8 lens I would only recommend it for video usage unless you dont have a 50mm already. Then definitely get it for all of your shooting needs.
