If you're familiar with the DMV area, then you already know that Cherry Blossom season is a big deal out here. It's a time when all of the cherry blossom trees and flowers are starting to bloom. It's also a sign that it's time to start coming back outside and enjoying the weather.

This past weekend I took it upon myself to make plans to go see the cherry blossoms blooming around the basin in Washington DC. I did some quick research and discovered that the area close to the Martin Luther King statue was a great place to start. It's surrounded by cherry blossom trees. When they bloom it makes for great picture moments.

I've also been doing some research trying to find some of the best places in Washington DC to go on a date. With that said I saw this as a good opportunity to ask a friend of mine to join me and check out the Cherry Blossoms with me.

Of course, I vlogged my experience as usual and if you'd like to check out the video you can see it here https://youtu.be/lJuo6pojWII

We started off catching a metro train into Foggy Bottom Station and then walking down 23rd street to the Lincoln Memorial. It was an interesting view but we didn't really stop for pictures because they are doing a lot construction on the steps there.

From the Lincoln Memorial we headed into the MLK statue area and finally got our first glimpse of these beautiful cherry blossoms that are blooming everywhere. It seems like we caught maybe the first week of the blooms. The trees looked good, but they didn't seem like they were as full as they can be.

After taking a few pictures of my friend in a tree we continued around the basin towards the Washington Monument. Once there you could see kites being flown in the distance all around the base of the monument. You could smell hotdog stands and flowers pollenating up and down the streets leading downtown.

Eventually we found ourselves stopping at a food truck to refuel as we took one more stroll past the White House. We weren't able to get the image we were looking for because security was heightened and keeping away from the back gate. But as far as the date it was a great idea.

Walking and seeing so many sights made it easy to have a conversation and keep it going. There was never a dull moment. The streets were packed full of tourists. It was easy bond by casually talking and sight seeing. We also took a lot of pictures which makes for a good story time later. I'm sure we'll have one of those "remember when" moments later on in the future.

All in all if you're thinking about taking a date to go see the Cherry Blossoms in Washington DC do it! It's definitely a good idea.
